Roymal offers a variety of sustainable coatings in our current portfolio. Our aqueous overprint coating is based upon naturally derived raw materials and is offered in matte and gloss versions. Our overprint chemistry can currently fit into compostable packaging applications while using the 1%/5% rule under ASTM D-6400. This overprint coating performs very well in soil disintegration tests on paper and bio-filmic substrates like cellophane. This overprint has the heat resistance required for packaging application up to 300°F (149°C). Roymal also offers an aqueous barrier coating that meets ISO 14855-1 in 45 days. This aqueous barrier coating has excellent oil and grease resistant (OGR) barrier properties and can be applied using flexographic, rotogravure and Meyer rod application methods. With two coats, this barrier technology can achieve a 3M kit test of 10-12 which is substrate dependent.
